WiFi hotspot probably the easy and best way to share your internet connection with other devices. There are a couple of software available that will help on this task, But when you need to set all things up without an additional software, Here is the solution: This system will only works on Windows 7 and 8 operating system.
So before applying these setting on your laptop, Make sure you are on Win 7 or 8 Operating system. Actually this is a built in system for Windows 7 and 8, And I have not tried this on Win 8.1 yet, But I think this system should work!
All you have to do is write a few lines of command on command prompt. So let’s start creating WiFi hotspot on Windows 7 or 8 without any 3rd party program.
How To Create WiFi Hotspot Without Any Software
Step 1: First open Command prompt in administrator mode by pressing
WindowsKey+x and then click on “Command Prompt (Admin). You can also run command prompt in administrator mode by going through start menu and right click on the CMD and choose run as administrator.
Step 2: Now type the following command in the command prompt.
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=NetworkName key=HotspotPassword
In above the code
ssid=NetworkName is WiFi hotspot name and
key=HotspotPassword is password for your network. Also make sure that the HotspotPassword is more than 8 characters. Now press Enter button to put the command in action. After pressing the Enter button, You will get a message like this:
The hosted network mode has been set to allow. The SSID of the hosted network has been successfully changed. The user key passphrase of the hosted network has been successfully changed.
Step 3: After that start wlan by typing the following command:
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
Hit Enter to apply the command and start Hotspot on your Laptop. Note That: The Hotspot is accessible from any device that support WiFi, But this will not share network connection untill you finish the setup. Read next to complete the settings.
Step 4: Now open Network and Sharing Center from control panel and click on the change adapter settings Now you will see a new network called Local Area Connection* 13. Now you will have to pass your active internet connection through this network (WiFi Hotspot).
The Active internet connection can be Ethernet, Another WiFi or Modem. Here In my case this is a Modem connection called Cellular Data Connection. The settings is same for each type of internet connection.
Step 5: Now right click on the active network that you are using to get your laptop connected with internet and click on the properties. Now go through The Sharing tab and tick on the allow other network users to connect through this computer’s internet connection and then Select Local Area Connection* 13.
That’s it! Now your laptop will share internet connection with other WiFi enabled devices through WiFi Hotspot. You are now ready to use internet on your SmartPhone, Tab or any devices that support WiFi.
Ohhh! You need to enter the password (that you entered while creating WiFi Hotspot in step 2) on other devices while connect. You can also stop or disable Hotspot anytime by typing the following command on CMD:
netsh wlan stop hostednetwork
